On 12/21, the Attales school held its first annual “Winter Wonderland Walk for a Cause” thanks to the efforts of several teachers including Kim Saparito, John White, and Carly Broomhead. The service project benefited patients with cancer. As some of you might already know, our former student, Tori Parker, is battling cancer. Mom, Kim Parker, is our Nutri-Serve cafeteria manager. In speaking with Kim these teachers decided to help Tori and her family help others this Holiday Season. Tori has been busy collecting items for other patients to help make their stay while receiving treatments a bit brighter. Below is a list of items Tori suggested that would benefit other adults fighting cancer.
Small hand sanitizers
Small Tissues
Chap Stick/Lip moisturizers
Eye Masks
Gloves
Ear plugs
Hats/Head Scarf
Socks(they like fuzzy and anything with something fun on them...we have a
few with avocados :)
Peppermint anything
Activity/Coloring books
Colored Pencils
Sharpeners
Playing Cards
All students participated in the walk regardless of any donations they may or may not have contributed. While it was originally supposed to be an outdoor walk, we had to adapt, adjust, and overcome due to rain. Instead, the students walked around the gym and received several tickets. A winner will be drawn from these tickets and that winner will get to challenge me in an activity they select (Fortnight, basketball, etc.). Due to the lockdown incident, we have not selected a winning ticket but will do so this week.
